Future historians depend on the generations that precede them to furnish the tools they need to reconstruct the way we lived. SCRC carefully preserves all donated materials to ensure their survival so future generations may learn about the past. See the collecting area interests of our particular archive at Collection Development Policies. To donate historical materials to SCRC, please contact Dr. Anne Marie Hamilton-Brehm, Associate Dean and Director of SCRC, at annemarie.hamiltonbrehm@siu.edu or 618-453-2516.
Transferring Materials to SCRC
The Society of American Archivists offers useful general guidelines for individuals and organizations who are considering donating their materials to an archive.
Donating Your Personal or Family Records to a Repository
Donating Your Organization’s Records to a Repository
SIUC administrators, faculty, staff, and student organizations transferring materials to University Archives should consult either the Faculty Papers Collection Policy or Office of Record Transfer Guide. For further information, please contact Matthew Gorzalski, University Archivist, at mgorzalski@siu.edu or 618-453-2225.
Remember: When in doubt, don’t throw it out!
