SCRC provides reproductions of its materials to facilitate private study, scholarship, and research.  You are welcome to freely use materials that are in the public domain and to make “fair use” of copyrighted materials as governed by the Copyright Law of the United States of America and Related Laws Contained in Title 17 of the United States Code. User Agreement and Disclaimer

A request to copy SCRC material constitutes an agreement that you will not reproduce, transfer, distribute, broadcast, publicly display, offer for sale, or otherwise use or publish any material subject to copyright, or a portion thereof, in excess of fair use, as defined by copyright law, without the express permission of the copyright holder. When making non-fair use of materials, you are solely responsible for determining the copyright status and obtaining permission to use from the copyright holder. In most cases SCRC does not own copyright of the materials in its repositories. Furthermore, you accept that SCRC reserves the right to deny reproduction requests or limit the number of copies made, due to the sensitivity of rare items and because of copyright regulations, privacy rights, donor-imposed regulations, or other rights-related issues. When displaying or publishing a reproduction provided by SCRC (for which SIU does not own copyright), please include the credit line: “Courtesy of Special Collections Research Center, Southern Illinois University Carbondale.”

In receiving a reproduction from our holdings, you assume all responsibility for infringement of copyright or other rights in your use of the material. You must agree  to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Special Collections Research Center, Southern Illinois University Carbondale and its Trustees, officers, agents and employees, from and against any and all liabilities, losses, demand, penalties, costs, expenses,  attorneys’ fees, lawsuits, fines, judgments, or causes of actions, including but not limited to claims relating to infringement of copyright, trademark, invasion of rights of privacy or publicity, or libel that arise either directly or indirectly from any use by the requestor of the images and/or materials provided by the Special Collections Research Center,  Southern Illinois University Carbondale or its employees, Trustees, or agents.

Payment

After making a reproduction request, you will receive an invoice and be required to make advanced payment. Mail to SCRC either cash, money order, or check drawn on a U.S. bank account written out to “Special Collections Research Center, Morris Library.” To pay by credit card, please contact us for instructions.
